Erica Fahy Siefring is from Columbus, OH, and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. She has expanded her skill base to include a wide array of media and techniques, ranging from traditional art-making practices to computer-based production and prototyping. Since learning to sew in 2021, she has been exploring fiber arts and quilt making.

 

"As a lifelong learner and artist, I have explored a wide variety of mediums and processes. Figuring out interesting ways to combine heirloom methods and materials with machine-based and commercial twists has been intriguing to me since learning to use digital programs and lasers in college.

My time spent in commercial fabrication has given me a new view on industry waste and the hollow nature of marketing-based creation that exists to sell things or contribute to a brand. When I piece together works with the attention and time that my great grandmother used (while using plastic-based materials that have been deemed trash), there is an uncanny result that is always more tender than I expect."
